He completed his Doctoral Degree from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 1979. He worked in Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for about 18 years. During this period he contributed extensively to the development of Space structures and systems for Indian Space program. As a technical expert he interacted with Aerospatiale for authorization of ISRO‘s spacecrafts for launches. He was instrumental in developing layered composite element using natural mode method to avoid shear locking. He worked in the development of new concepts for lightweight structures.
He used his experience in setting up design and development teams as well as interactions with international agencies, to develop Engineering services business in Automotive and Aerospace sectors from India for international customers.
He was the CTO of “Plexion Technologies” a company funded by JP Morgan Partners in 2001. This company had been providing Engineering Services to Automotive and Aerospace customers e.g. Daimler Chrysler, HONDA, Visteon, Bentley, GKN Aerospace UK. Plexion helped these customers to develop their designs using offshore support in India as well as onsite placement of competent engineers for specialized requirements.
